Pretty much! I'm not 100% sure myself. If that's not the case, then at the very least, the hackers will be able to use the same exploit to jailbreak it, so it will always be called the limera1n exploit, not purplera1n or any other ra1n.
Jailbreaking is achieved by finding holes in the closed walls of the iPhone. Normally, jailbreak exploits get patched up with the 'cement' that is an updated firmware.
However, Limera1n's penetration is so low level that no change to software can eliminate this hole.
