[TUTORIAL] - How to Jailbreak 3.1.2 firmware

Ok this is probably what everyone wants to know how to do. Thanks to blackra1n, jailbreaking just got really easy again!

It literally takes 2 minutes to do! But first of all, what does jailbreaking actually mean?
It means you can run apps that Apple hasn’t approved of. Basically, there is a whole other ecosystem of apps not in the app store, and the functionality of some of these apps make jailbreaking irresistible to some. Also, the fact that you can run pirated app store apps for free...

Before you begin:
>You need your iPhone or iPod touch updated to 3.1.2
firmware. To do this, simply update from iTunes.

Ok now we’re ready to start!
1. go to this page to download the blackra1n program.
If you’re windows click on windows, if you’re mac click on
mac. You will download a file. Open it up.
2. With your iPhone/iPod Touch plugged into the dock
connector, run the program.

You should see this: click on it!

You should then see the geohot picture fill your iGadget’s screen

WARNING - IF YOU HAVE AN IPOD 3GS or IPOD TOUCH G3 AND YOU SEE THIS ON YOUR SCREEN AFTER THE GEOHOT PICTURE,

Simply close and run blackra1n again. This is called a tethered jailbreak. This means everytime you need to restart your iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch G3, you will see this picture and you need to plug your device in and run blackra1n every time to boot it up.

You should now see this message

and that’s it! you’re done! That should have taken no more than 2 minutes!

Highly recommended after jailbreaking:
There should now be a blackra1n app on your device. Open it, and install Cydia. If you want to unlock your iPhone, also install sn0w. Don’t bother with Rock!

The next tutorial will be about all the awesome things you can do once you have a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch with Cydia installed, like how to use pirated apps. Check back for updates!
